From the airport to Barcelona centre

Every way into Barcelona from the airport, with the price, the journey time and the first and last departure, so a late landing holds no surprises.

Checked: 21 October 2026. Prices and hours can change; check the official site before you go.

⚡ In short

Most visitors fly into Barcelona-El Prat. The Aerobús runs around the clock straight to Plaça de Catalunya; the R2 Nord train (from Terminal 2) goes to Sants and Passeig de Gràcia, and the L9 Sud metro works with a change if your hotel is near metro L1, L3 or L5. A normal single ticket or T-casual is not valid at the airport metro stations.

✈️ Barcelona-El Prat (Josep Tarradellas) (BCN)

El Prat is about 14 km from the centre and has two terminals, T1 and T2. The Aerobús is the simplest option; the R2 Nord train is the fast one to Sants and Passeig de Gràcia, and the L9 Sud metro needs a change.

🌙 Landing late at night

The Aerobús runs 24 hours (A1 and A2 every 20 min between about 01:00 and 05:30), so you can always get to Plaça de Catalunya. The L9 Sud runs all night only on Saturday and until 02:00 on Friday. A taxi at night pays the higher tariff (€1.66 per km).

🛫 Going back to the airport

Aerobús: leave from Plaça de Catalunya, A1 for T1 and A2 for T2, 24 hours a day; check your terminal. Metro: the Airport Ticket (€5.90) works from any metro station, a T-casual or single ticket does not. R2 Nord: trains go to T2 only. By taxi the €4.60 airport supplement also applies. The airport advises arriving at least 2 hours before a flight within Europe.
